THE NAME BEHIND THE WORK
Why Serenissima?
A name inspired by places.
A purpose built around connection.
Serenissima Works takes its name from La Serenissima, the historic Republic of Venice, and the beauty of the Adriatic cities linked by its maritime world.
Its networks connected Europe and the eastern Mediterranean through trade, diplomacy and cultural exchange. A meeting point for Western European, Byzantine and Islamic cultures, Venice offers an inspiration for our work today: helping languages, people and projects meet.
The Albanian connection+
Albania belongs to this shared history too, from Durrës and Shkodër to the Albanian community in Venice. In Skanderbeg’s time, relations with the Republic included conflict as well as later alliance. Our inspiration is the exchange of language, ideas and craftsmanship across that Adriatic world.
